Head Veterinary Surgeon

Welcome to Swale Barn Vets, in the heart of Faversham where my family, my team and I are part of the local community.

I graduated in 2007 in Cluj, Romania and after completing my Masters and a PhD in Canine reproduction, I relocated to the UK in 2011 where I have been practising as a small animal vet since.

Whilst I very much enjoyed my first few years working in Manchester, South Yorkshire and East Midlands, since 2016 Kent has been my home, where I have found an amazing community amongst beautiful surroundings. I’ve been caring for cats and dogs of Faversham, Mid and East Kent ever since, so opening a practice that I could take the lead in has been a dream come true. At Swale Barn vets, we want every visit to us to be as stress free as possible and we have designed our clinic to have designated wards for specific species, whilst using our amazing facilities to help diagnose and manage your pets’ medical conditions.

Outside of work, you will probably see me spending time with my family, taking up boxing classes or cooking for family and friends. I am extremely lucky to have an amazing supporting wife, Diana, and our wonderful daughter Anna, who have been by my side throughout this journey.

I am looking forward to meeting new and old friends whilst taking care of your pets.  At Swale Barn Vets, we’re a family vets, you’ll see the same friendly faces and we will always greet you with compassion and kindness. I am a strong believer in team work and I am truly convinced that our dedicated team who love their job will provide the best possible care for you and your furry friends

Vicky Barrett BVetMed MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi my name is Vicky.

After completing a degree in Pharmacology at Kings College London I went on to study Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College, graduating in 2015. Since then I have worked in small animal practice in the UK and most recently in Melbourne, Australia.

The most rewarding part of my job is when pet carers tell me that their pet is back to his or her usual self, even if that means they are barking at the postman again or meowing loudly for food! I understand how frightening it is when our beloved pets are unwell, especially since they cannot tell us what’s wrong. Let’s work together to find out the cause of the problem and come up with a treatment plan that works for you and your pet.

My academic interests include imaging and internal medicine and I have also undertaken further study in the field of feline medicine. Outside of work I like to relax by cooking, gardening and taking yoga classes. I have recently been fostering cats in need and hope to welcome a pet of my own in the near future.

Maddy Tash BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, I’m Maddy. I first completed a degree in Animal Science which further cemented the childhood dream of becoming a vet. I then went on to graduate in 2019 from the University of Liverpool in Veterinary Science.

I have a strong passion for medicine and am currently working towards a postgraduate certificate in internal medicine.

One of the best parts of the job is seeing our patients become happy and healthy again. Providing ongoing care and support to yourselves and your animals is very important to me. I am looking forward to meeting all your wonderful furry companions, and providing them with the best care possible.

Outside of work I enjoy exploring the Kent countryside with my lurcher, Toby. I am a keen traveller and am often found planning my next adventure.

Jess Hutchings RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hi, my name is Jess I have been a Qualified Veterinary Nurse for the last 16 years and have worked in the Veterinary industry for the last 20. During this time I have had several different roles including working in day practice, working as a Veterinary nurse at Dogs Trust, as a hydro-therapist and most recently as an Out of Hours Emergency nurse.

My real passion has always been for running Nurse Clinics and providing that extra point of contact for clients and their pets, providing advise for a range of topics, I am looking forward to getting these up and running.

I am married with two children and have many pets (too many to list!!)

I am looking forward to being part of a family run practice again and meeting the lovely clients of Swale Barn Vets.

Holly Trebill RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Hi I’m Holly.

I’ve been in the veterinary industry for over 18 years, with 9 of those years spent specializing in orthopedic referrals. My main areas of interest are anesthesia and working with exotic species, where I’ve developed a particular passion and skill set.

I also have a soft spot for dachshunds and enjoy caring for my guinea pigs at home. Outside of work, I’m married and a proud mum to two young boys. My experience in the field and love for animals drive me to provide the best care possible for all creatures, big and small.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

My name is Jo, I have been a Registered Veterinary Nurse for 12 years. In that time I have worked in both small animal practice and orthopaedic referral. My role as a veterinary nurse is a significant and fulfilling part of my life. I take great pleasure in all aspects of nursing, with a particular interest in feline behaviour, and passion for inpatient care.

I also have a fondness for guinea pigs owning 5 of my own. In my free time I enjoy staying active, gardening, and most of all spending quality time with my partner and our two daughters

I’m Cassie, I have been in the veterinary industry for over 11 years. I trained at Hadlow college as a Animal Nursing assistant, I have loved every moment! I’m married and have two children Albert and Leonard who keep me very busy, I also have two dogs Rufus and Missy.

As a child I grew up with animals and even was in a fly ball team with my 3 border collies. I love working with animals and take real pride in my responsibility and love towards all animals.

Trainee Veterinary Nurse

My name is Liz.  I am very excited to join the team at Swale Barn Vets as a Patient Care Assistant, and am now starting my training to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

This has been a big career change for me as I have been a zoo keeper for years looking after a variety of animals including carnivores (such as bears and wolves), and also elephants and monkeys.

I have always been fascinated by the veterinary world and am really looking forward to learning everything that my new job role entails.  I have been made to feel so welcome already and feel privileged to be part of such an amazing team.

Hi, I’m S-J ( aka Sarah-Jane). I’ve been a veterinary receptionist locally for the past 11 years.

It’s a really great job to be in, not only if you love animals but also because no two days are the same.

I’ve been blessed with meeting some amazing people who work within the veterinary practices, and my colleagues at Swale Barn Vets definitely fall into that category.

At present, I am between pets, but the last 40 years of my life have been shared with cats.

When not at work, my time off is delightfully filled up with my granddaughters and grandpup Bella.

Hello, I’m Dawn and I work on reception. I’ve enjoyed working in local vet practices for over 10 years.

I have a Springer Spaniel and a Labrador that I love to go walking with. I love being outdoors and I am a great believer in the positive benefits of pet ownership. I also have 4 Guinea pigs at home that occasionally come indoors for a cuddle and to watch a bit of TV!

Hi, I’m Geri. I’ve joined the team at Swale Barn Vets as part of the front of house team and I am very excited about this move. I’ve always had a huge passion for animals and I can’t think of anywhere else better to spend my time at work than here.

Outside of work, I love being in the great outdoors, whether it is riding my horses or walking my three dogs with my children. I am lucky to share my horse riding hobby with my daughter and we often take part in various events or shows. I cannot wait to meet all our furry friends and clients.

Clinical Support Assistant

Hi, I’m Daisy, the newest member of Swale Barn Vets, joining as a Clinic Support Assistant.

I completed a Level 3 course in Animal Care and Behaviour in 2017. As a lifelong animal lover, I’m fascinated by different species and their behaviours. I’m passionate about animal welfare, so you can be sure I’m supporting both the team and the animals as best I can behind the scenes!

In my free time, I enjoy reading, painting, staying active with pilates, and cuddling with my very spoiled house rabbit, Roo!

I’m excited to start this new adventure with Swale Barn Vets and to work with such a wonderful team and clients.
